Agent for WR Moss arrested in Clearwater
Associated Press
Published March 30, 2006
The agent for Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss was arrested last weekend in Clearwater for failing to appear at a hearing stemming from his March 14 arrest on crack cocaine charges.
Dante DiTrapano was arrested Saturday, sheriff's department spokesman Mac McMullen said Wednesday. DiTrapano posted bond and was released Sunday.
Robert Heyman, DiTrapano's lawyer, said Wednesday that DiTrapano is being treated at a Tampa hospital for an undisclosed condition.
"He's receiving treatment for a medical condition he had prior to his arrest," Heyman said.
DiTrapano, wife Teri and three others were arrested this month at a Hilton hotel in St. Petersburg. Police say they recovered 73 pieces of crack cocaine and 21 grams of powder cocaine. All five were charged with felony possession of crack cocaine.
Florida officials issued a warrant for DiTrapano after he failed to attend a March 21 court hearing in St. Petersburg.
DiTrapano has said he's enrolled in a treatment center for an addiction to the painkiller OxyContin.
LIONS: Unrestricted free agent safety Idrees Bashir signed a one-year contract. He spent last season with the Panthers after four years with the Colts. Also, after meeting with the Dolphins, Joey Harrington meets today with the Bengals, one of six teams that have contacted Lions president Matt Millen about the quarterback. Harrington has two years remaining on his contract but is free to look for a job with other teams.
ARENA LEAGUE: Former Storm receiver/linebacker Bobby Sippio and lineman DeMarcus Johnson were awarded to Chicago and Grand Rapids, respectively, through waivers. Chicago received the first pick in the waiver process from Kansas City (which had the worst record the first half of the season) as part of future considerations from a trade made earlier this season. Grand Rapids had the fifth pick.
Also, Bucs defensive lineman Chris Hovan and receivers J.R. Russell and Paris Warren will sign autographs on the St. Pete Times Forum plaza concourse at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, one hour before the Storm's game against Utah.
