Briefs: Event set to enhance body and soul at gallery

GRAY GABLES - A group of women business owners called the "Must Haves'' is organizing an event about the latest trends and techniques for enhancing the mind, body and soul at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lyssa Morgan Gallery, 4062 Henderson Blvd.

Representatives from local businesses, such as Premiere Center for Cosmetic Surgery, Innovative Weight Solutions and Kit's Well-Heeled & Well-Dressed, will give demonstrations.

A $10 donation is suggested. Wine, champagne, hors d'oeuvres and valet parking will be provided. Proceeds will go to the Spring of Tampa Bay, which provides education and services for victims of domestic violence.

Video display will continue through April 8

DOWNTOWN - Long Time No See, a video display by local artist Jeff Whipple, continues from 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through April 8 at the Tampa Museum of Art courtyard.

The 300-foot mural portion of the installation, Illuminations of Ruminations, is on permanent display.

Whipple's work is the seventh installment of Lights on Tampa, a project that uses Tampa landmarks as canvases for works of art.

Reservations now being taken for luxury tower

GANDY/SUN BAY SOUTH - WCI Communities this week began taking reservations for Estrella, a 15-story luxury tower at Westshore Yacht Club, at West Shore Boulevard and Tyson Avenue.

Estrella is planned for 80 units, ranging from 2,000 to 2,610 square feet. Prices start at $850,000. Amenities include a fitness center, theater, heated swimming pool and a social room with billiards and card tables.

Museum, USF arts join for monthly programs

DOWNTOWN - The Tampa Museum of Art has teamed with the University of South Florida's School of Visual and Performing Arts to present monthly lectures, music and dance performances at the museum.

Organizers hope to increase understanding of the arts and introduce new art forms to museum and community audiences.

The series started with a lecture Sunday and will continue one Sunday a month at 2 p.m.

The next event is a slide presentation on April 30 by Margaret Miller, a professor and director of the Institute for Research in Art. On May 21, music professors Kim and Robert McCormick will perform.

Business women's group program is Wednesday

WEST SHORE DISTRICT - The Westshore Midday Business and Professional Women sponsors "Building a Powerful Woman" from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Centre Club, 123 S West Shore Blvd., eighth floor.

Nancy Hurlbert, former national president of Business and Professional Women/USA, will be the guest speaker.
