Daily fishing report

The web page myfwc.com/marine/regulation.htm is a starting point with links to an incredible amount of information. One of my favorites: Fishing Lines Anglers Guide has an online fish identification section with Diane Rome Peebles' detailed fish artwork and information on each species. Click on "Resources and Publications" for a link to a free publications order form for the printed Fishing Lines Anglers Guide, Summarized Recreational Regulations and more. You can also order free DVDs such as "Creating Fish Habitat: The Artificial Reef" or "FL Fisheries Stock Enhancement."
You will find spearfishing regulations, how to measure fish and a related links page that even provides a fish length-to-weight calculator, and an online viewer to NOAA Nautical Charts.
East coast divers in Jupiter and West Palm finished spiny lobster season with larger-than-average bugs and full-catch limits. Spearfishermen on both sides of Florida are observing the migration of cobia onto offshore wrecks and near shore around markers and mangrove islands. These powerful fish love structure and follow hosts like sharks and big rays.
Chad Carney teaches diving and spearfishing in the Tampa Bay area. Call 727 423-7775 or visit his Web site at www.mobilescuba.com
