SEFFNER - Armwood athletic boosters have launched a six-month campaign to raise $1.2-million for the construction of a 15,000 square-foot athletic field house, booster president, local attorney and 2004 Florida gubernatorial candidate Bill McBride announced in a press release Monday.
"If we want to keep our coaches and continue the winning tradition they have started, we must give them every possible advantage to perform their word and improve their teams," said McBride, whose son Bert signed in February with Stanford and started for Armwood's Class 4A runnerup team last fall. "Right now our facilities are inadequate for a major football program such as Armwood has built."
Armwood won back-to-back state titles in 2003 and 2004.
