A CHANGE IN SCRIPT

American Stage in the Park moves away from Shakespeare with Crowns, a gospel-flavored musical that theater officials hope will have a broader appeal than adaptations of the Bard. The play opens tonight at Demens Landing on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront and runs through May 7. Shows are at 8 tonight through Sunday, then 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. $10-$25. Wednesdays are "pay what you can." (727) 823-7529; americanstage.org.
