TAMPA - Police say a body pulled from Hillsborough Bay on Tuesday evening is that of a 20-year-old man who intentionally drowned himself by attaching a heavy object to his left leg with a shackle.

Police say Jonathan D. Link of Spring Hill weighed himself down and walked into the water near Bay to Bay and Bayshore boulevards, said police spokeswoman Laura McElroy. The cause of death is listed as suicide by drowning, she said.

The body was discovered by a group of tourists on a sightseeing excursion onboard the Bay Spirit. The tourists, who were in Tampa for an education conference, were nearing the end of their boat tour when they noticed the body floating in the water.
