St. Petersburg Police released a composite sketch on Friday of a man they want to interview in connection with the killing of retired psychology professor Lawrence H. Ricker.

The body of the 83-year-old was found at his home on March 28. Then, his house at 4160 14th Street North was burned down.

Detectives say a neighbor told them a stranger knocked on their door at 6:15 p.m. that day, asking about a lost dog. He told the neighbor his name was John and that he lived in the area of 39th Avenue North, and gave the neighbor a non-working telephone number.

The man is described as a white male, 20-30 years of age. He has a dark complexion, medium build, collar length curly black hair, unshaven.

He was riding a blue men's bicycle and smelled like a smoker.

Anyone with information can call Detective Glen Henry at 727-893-7164 or the Communications Center at 727-893-7780.
