CINCINNATI - After losing their first six games by a combined 10 runs, Pittsburgh found out how to win a close game.
Jack Wilson hit a two-run homer in the fifth as Jim Tracy earned his first win as Pirates manager. The Pirates had runners in each of the first four innings but didn't score until Wilson's homer.
Pittsburgh's losing streak was two shy of the franchise record at the start of a season, set in 1955. The Pirates hadn't been 0-6 since 1974.
NOTABLE: Former Rays reliever Roberto Hernandez got three outs for the save, his 325th, moving him past Troy Percival for sole possession of 10th place.
