With holes repaired, part of SR 580 to reopen

By Times Staff

CLEARWATER - State Road 580 between Landmark Drive and Countryside Boulevard is expected to reopen to traffic early today, city officials said Monday. The road has been closed since Thursday when work crews discovered holes forming underneath the busy road, which is used by an average of 36,500 cars and trucks a day. The holes had grown around a broken sewer pipe about 10 feet underground. Crews had worked around the clock since Thursday to replace the pipe, fill in the holes and repave the road.
