The PGA Tour event in Hartford landed a new title sponsor and a spot on the FedEx Cup portion of the schedule starting in 2007. The Hartford tournament, which began in 1952, was not included in the main segment of the PGA Tour's new schedule and was either going to be made a secondary "Fall Series" event or transform into a Champions Tour event. But it got a reprieve when 84 Lumber stopped sponsoring an event in Pennsylvania, allowing Hartford and sponsor St. Paul Travelers to fill the summer vacancy.

BOXING: Corrales-Castillo 3 set
Champion Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo will fight for the WBC lightweight title June 3 in Las Vegas. The fighters have split two previous meetings. Corrales won their first bout on a 10th-round TKO that gave him the WBC title in May 2005 in Las Vegas. Castillo won the rematch five months later with a fourth-round knockout. But Corrales earned the WBC title when Castillo failed to make the 135-pound limit and one of his camp members was caught trying to tamper with the scale at the weigh-in.
