The Hillsborough County School District shuffled principals at several area schools this week.

Juanita Underwood came to Monroe Middle from Sligh Middle Magnet, where she served 18 years, first as assistant principal and then as principal. She began her career with the district 32 years ago.

Underwood replaces Joe Brown, who is moving to Franklin Middle Magnet, where he attended as a student. He has been with the district 17 years, 13 of them at Monroe, where he became principal four years ago.

Jason Pepe comes to B.T. Washington Elementary from Brooker Elementary, where he was principal. He replaces Maria Tudela, who transferred to Youth Services. Pepe, originally from a small town in New York, began his career in education in 1993 as a teacher and taught at Cypress Creek and Tampa Palms elementaries.

Baretta Wilson is back at Stewart Middle Magnet, where she served as assistant principal from 2000 to 2004 during the school's transition from a traditional to a magnet school. She left to take a principal position at James K-8 School. She replaces Barry Davis, who moves to Ben Hill Middle.
