TAMPA - Ledys Ramirez and her boyfriend, Roy L. Anderson, weren't getting along.

In the midst of a fight Thursday night, police say Anderson disclosed an ugly secret. He told her he was attracted to her 14-year-old daughter.

That's it, Ramirez told him. The relationship was over.

So Anderson picked up a knife and slashed her throat, making a 6-inch cut, Tampa police said.

On Friday, police were searching for Anderson, 40. He's believed to be driving a light-blue, four-door 1991 Dodge Dynasty.

The argument happened about 3:10 a.m. at the pair's home on Corrinne Street in Palmetto Beach, said Lt. John Newman.

Anderson's first attempt to cut his girlfriend's throat didn't work because the knife broke, Newman said. So he grabbed another knife.

By that point, the noise awakened Ramirez's two daughters, the 14-year-old and a 12-year-old. The oldest girl tried to help her mother by jumping on Anderson's back to stop him, Newman said. The girl then dialed 911. As she tried to speak with dispatchers, Anderson struck her, possibly breaking her nose, police said.

Newman described the scene as very bloody, but he said Ramirez underwent surgery and was in good condition Friday morning at Tampa General Hospital.

Anderson could face charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and depriving a person of 911 communications, Newman said.

Anderson was arrested in June 2005 on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Hillsborough County jail records.
