DIRECTIONS: Drive north on County Road 491. Turn left onto N Carl G. Rose Highway/SR-200. Turn right onto Southwest 17th Street/SR-464 in Ocala. Continue to follow SR-464 east to the end at 5000 Southeast Maricamp Road.

THE SCOOP: Lecanto coach Dan Epstein returns from running the Boston Marathon on Monday to coach the boys squad. Senior Richard Chaney has competed well, setting a new school record in the high jump, and Jon Lowe broke Lecanto's 100-meter dash record in 11.1 seconds and anchors the 4x100-meter relay that also broke the school record by a hundreth of a second in 44.2 seconds. Seniors Nick Norton and Dustin Elder have also consistently run well in the distance events. On the girls side, Tara Haddock, who could have competed in college on a track scholarship but opted out instead to focus on basketball, is a big contender to win in the long-distance events - the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 - and Shaneatha Gates is making her mark in shot put. The top four finishers in each event advance to the Region 2 meet April 27 at Titusville Astronaut.
