Griffey goes on DL

CINCINNATI - Ken Griffey went on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in a tendon behind his right knee.
The Reds centerfielder missed his fifth straight game, getting an MRI exam instead that revealed the injury. The 36-year-old wasn't available in the clubhouse after he was placed on the disabled list.
"It's as much a precautionary thing," GM Wayne Krivsky said. "It's not anything serious. According to the doctor, he could be playing in a day or two, but we'd rather be safe at this time of year."
The Reds are expected to activate C Jason LaRue before today's game.
MARLINS GET DEADLINE: Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff said he is imposing a May 15 deadline for the Marlins to commit to moving to San Antonio, Texas. Wolff told the San Antonio Express-News he would fax a letter with the deadline to team president David Samson . Wolff is the point man in discussions on bringing the team to Texas. He told the Marlins in the letter: "We need to fish or cut bait by May 15."
San Antonio has been trying to lure the team, and county officials have offered to put up $200-million toward an estimated $300-million ballpark if voters approve extending a tax on hotel and car rentals.
FAN REMOVED FOR THROWING AT BONDS: A fan was removed from the leftfield bleachers at Chase Field for throwing an object at Barry Bonds during the Giants-Diamondbacks game in Phoenix. The object, which resembled a toothpaste tube, landed a few feet in front of Bonds Officials said the fan would be charged.
MARLINS: Rookie RF Jeremy Hermida (sore hip) was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 12.
METS: CF Carlos Beltran did not start for the second consecutive game because of tightness in his right hamstring. LF Cliff Floyd left after four innings with a strained rib-cage muscle.
NATIONALS: RHP Ryan Drese is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a right elbow injury.
