Basketball

CAMP SIGNUPS: Wharton High School basketball coach Tommy Tonelli will be holding four basketball camps for girls and boys entering grades 2-8. Sessions last from 1 to 5 p.m. and will be held from June 5-9, 12-16, 19-23 and 26-30. It costs $110 for one session and $100 for each additional session.

The registration fee includes a camp T-shirt, basketball, a certificate and in-depth instruction. The camps will focus on fundamental skills, team play and sportsmanship. All classes are held at Wharton High, 20150 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Beginners to advanced players are welcome. Call 813 631-4710, ext. 234.

FENCING

FENCING CLASSES: Tampa Bay Fencers Inc. is offering classes for foil, epee and saber. Anyone interested in swordplay is welcome to watch open sessions or call to request a free introductory class. Sessions are from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at the Northdale Recreation Center. Call (813) 787-4526.

Fitness

WALKING WOMEN: The Right Fit 4 U women's walking group meets at 6:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Walgreens at N Dale Mabry Highway and S Village Drive. The group also meets for weekend walks at various Tampa locations. Call (813) 760-3242.

Golf

SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT: The University of South Florida College of Education and the SUNRIPE Family of Cos. will host a golf tournament Saturday at the Lakewood Ranch Legacy Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, 8255 Legacy Blvd. Proceeds benefit scholarships for future educators from the migrant community. HOGAN'S TOURNAMENT: Hogan's Great Sandwiches is hosting its second annual golf tournament "fore" charity at 1:30 p.m. May 20. Prices are $85 per golfer, $100 to sponsor a hole or $425 for a corporate sponsorship, and includes golf for four, company recognition, company shirts and a hole sign.

Proceeds benefit 6-year-old Lily Lazar, the 2005 Girl of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Suncoast chapter. Lily was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last year. All proceeds will go to the family. Last year's tournament raised nearly $12,000.

benefit TOURNAMENT: The FloridaMillion.Com Golf Tournament will begin at noon May 7 at Pebble Creek Golf Club, 10550 Regents Park Drive. Participants will be able to win a $35,000 2006 Mark III Customs Dodge Charger if they hit a hole-in-one at the sixth hole.

Registration fees are $75 per person or $300 per foursome. The fee includes lunch and a reception. Players will also be eligible for prizes that will be awarded he day. The tournament will benefit 13 local nonprofit organizations. Call (813) 973-3872.

TOURNAMENT AT USF: The Tampa Guide Right Foundation's fifth annual Abe Brown Golf Tournament will take place April 29 at the Claw at the University of South Florida, 13801 N 46th St. The cost is $70 per player. Proceeds will go to college scholarships for Hillsborough County students. Call (813) 478-9218.

CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT: Tampa United Methodist Centers will host its third annual charity golf tournament May 1 at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club.

The $150 entry fee includes a boxed lunch, dinner, a cart, range balls, awards, prizes and a gift bag. Proceeds will benefit the Rosa Valdez Center for Children. Call (813) 248-6259, ext. 233.

CARROLLWOOD TOURNAMENT: The Carrollwood Community Bar Association is hosting its fifth annual Charity Courthouse Scramble on April 28 at the Northdale Golf and Tennis Club, 4417 Northdale Blvd.

Proceeds benefit All Sports Community Service's scholarship fund and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Registration is $100 and includes tournament, green fees, lunch, food, drinks and an awards dinner. Sponsorships are also available. Call (813) 468-5987.
