Dear FDLE Family: Earlier today, after careful consideration and much personal reflection, I made the decision to tender my resignation to Governor Jeb Bush. Some two and a half years ago, a most prestigious honor came my way when I was appointed commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. There can be no greater honor than to serve the citizens of Florida in such an important way, and it is not a responsibility that I ever took lightly. I never lost sight of the fact that it was only due to the amount of pride and the incredible level of industrious work that each of you offers this agency every day that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement enjoys such a terrific reputation. Through your daily efforts, FDLE has the highest degree of respect we could ever hope to achieve in the eyes of the public, our law enforcement partners in Florida, and throughout our great nation. After 33 years in law enforcement, I will be entering a new phase in my life, and during this time, I hope to enjoy much more time with my wonderful wife, my family and the grandchildren that God has blessed us with in the last few years. I encourage and respectfully urge you to continue to work hard and be as faithful to the next commissioner's goals as you were to mine, and I pray that God will Bless each and every one of you in the future. Please keep on "polishing the shield" of FDLE for the generations to come. Sincerely, Guy Tunnell
