STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - Karrie Webb picked right up where she left off at her last tournament.
Looking again like a dominating force on the LPGA Tour, Webb followed her win in the first major of the year with a second straight 5-under 67 Friday, leaving her two strokes off the lead in the Florida's Natural Charity Championship.
Sung Ah Yim charged to the top with a 64 at Eagle's Landing Country Club near Atlanta, pushing her 36-hole total to a 12-under 132. Two fellow South Koreans were right on her heels - 20-year-old Jee Young Lee was 11 under after a 65, and Hee-Won Han was tied with Webb at 134.
Stuart Appleby took a one-stroke lead over Greg Owen on Friday in the suspended second round of the Shell Houston Open, finishing 16 bogey-free holes in 5 under to push his two-day total to 11 under. An early morning thunderstorm delayed the start by 21/2 hours. Clear skies were expected for the rest of the tournament.
CHAMPIONS TOUR:
Jay Haas, seeking his first win of the season, breezed to a two-stroke lead in the first round of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf. Haas, who splits his time between the Champions Tour and the regular PGA Tour, shot a 6-under-par 66 at The Club at Savannah Harbor. Mark McNulty, Tom Wargo, Jerry Pate and Gil Morgan each shot 68s.
NATIONWIDE TOUR:
Craig Lile improved on his opening round, shooting 8-under 64, to move atop the leaderboard at the Athens Regional Foundation Classic in Bogart, Ga. Lile, who stands at 15-under 129, is a shot ahead of Zoran Zorkic, who also posted a 64 for the second round.
PGA EUROPE:
Henrik Stenson held his one-stroke lead at the BMW Asian Open after the second round was suspended by rain. Stenson, the overnight leader, was at even-par for the day before downpours forced him off final hole at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club. He holds a 5-under total of 139 through 35 holes.
FUTURES: Kelly Lagedrost of Brooksville was among a group of five tied for second following first-round play at the inaugural Power of a Dream Futures Golf Classic in Frisco, Texas. Danielle Downey shot 5-under 66 to take the lead. Lagedrost, one back with a 4-under 67, was bunched with Katie Connelly, Randi Meadows, Smriti Mehra and Annie Young. Among local competitors at the 54-hole tournament, Jenny Gleason of Clearwater was among 11 tied for 38th (1-over 72) and Sookhee Baek of Bradenton was one of six tied for 132nd (9-over 80).
TIGER IN A TUX:
Tiger Woods experienced a role reversal when he attended the wedding of his longtime caddie Steve Williams near Auckland, New Zealand. Williams was the center of attention this time as he exchanged vows with fiancee Kirsty Miller while Woods, wearing a tuxedo and accompanied by his wife, Elin Nordegren, played a quiet support role. Security was tight around the wedding venue.
