Port Richey releases landowner from contract

By TIMES STAFF WRITER
Published April 26, 2006

PORT RICHEY - The City Council voted unanimously at a special meeting Tuesday to release Elva Clark from a 10-acre land contract that would have been part of a proposed 80-acre city park.

Releasing Clark from the contract by 5 p.m. allowed her to close on a sale of the land to a third party. Shauna Morris, city attorney, said she sent a mutual release of claims on Monday to Clark's attorney, Chuck Buford, who said he wanted to keep his options open in case Clark files a lawsuit against the city. The city could be sued for the cost difference between the price the city would have paid for the land and the price paid to Clark by the third party.
