Deputies say bracelet is clue in man's killing

LEALMAN - A silver-colored bracelet found near Stanley Carr's dead body has emerged as a clue for detectives searching for his killer.

Carr, 27, was found by the side of the road near Haines Road and 61st Avenue N early Saturday. He had been stabbed.

On Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office said investigators came across a heavy, silver-colored bracelet near Carr's body and that it could belong to his killer.

Carr, a St. Petersburg resident, spent several hours Friday night drinking at the Monkey Bar Lounge at 6177 Haines Road. He left when the lounge closed at 2 a.m. Saturday and was found by authorities 19 minutes later.

Witnesses told the Sheriff's Office that Carr walked out of the lounge and got into a fight with another man. "We believe there's a possibility that during the physical altercation that took place, that the bracelet came off the suspect," said Sgt. Mike Madden, the head of the Sheriff's Office's homicide unit.

The Sheriff's Office says it's looking for a white male in his late 40s or early 50s with a ruddy complexion who was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans.

Madden said detectives also want to talk to people seen driving an older, boxy minivan around the time Carr may have been fighting with the other man. A woman who briefly got out of the van had blondish hair, Madden said.

"We're trying to get these people to come forward, as they're possibly witnesses," he said.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff's Office at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
