GOLF BACKGROUND: Started playing at 9; won three-team high school league title as freshman in 1996; competed in the Amateur Junior Golf Association; named Minority Golfer of the Year in 1999; became first African-American golfer at Yale or in Ivy League, though played sparingly after freshman year in 2000.
TURNING POINT: Seeing Tiger Woods play when she was 17 made her think about playing golf seriously.
GOAL: To qualify in September for LPGA Tour.
