PALMA CEIA - Plant High School's Beta Club is raising money to help with the medical expenses of Arielle Serrano.
Arielle, 14, was hit by a vehicle March 14 on Dale Mabry Highway after leaving flag football practice at Plant High with her twin sister and their friends. She remains hospitalized but is out of intensive care.
Cash or checks made payable to Plant High School will be gathered in homerooms through today.
Homeless kids' artwork will be displayed at TECO
DOWNTOWN - Artwork created by 60 homeless children will be displayed from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Tampa Electric Co. building, 702 N Franklin St.
Visitors will vote for their favorite pieces, which will be featured on T-shirts worn by volunteers who will count the homeless population during the January 2007 Homeless Census.
The young artists will be on hand selling their art. Proceeds will benefit the Homeless Census.
The event, sponsored by the Homeless Coalition and the Hillsborough County schools, is free and open to the public.
