Help rid John Chesnut Sr. Park of invasive plants

EAST LAKE - Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 13 to participate in the "Give Us a Day for the Bay" workday to help rid John Chesnut Sr. Park of invasive plants. The park is at 2200 East Lake Road. Volunteers will receive lunch and a T-shirt and are asked to bring garden gloves, shovels and trowels, and wear closed-toe shoes. Advance registration required. Doctor will speak on aging at Senior Activity Center

DUNEDIN - The city of Dunedin will sponsor a free communitywide educational program, "Optimal Aging" from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the William E. Hale Senior Activity Center, 330 Douglas Ave. Dr. Kevin W. O'Neil will be the guest lecturer. Call Kelli Edwards at (727) 787-6536.

Sheriff's Office offers free course in personal safety

CLEARWATER - The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will offer a presentation on personal safety from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clearwater Lawn Bowling and Shuffleboard Club, 1040 Calumet St. Call (727) 582-5600.
