Is Anna Nicole Smith pregnant or isn't she? Nobody's talking

By TIMES WIRES
Published May 6, 2006

Is Anna Nicole Smith pregnant? Her attorney and long-time spokesman Howard K. Stern issued a statement Thursday that makes the matter as clear as a blurred sonogram image.

"If Anna Nicole is pregnant, she obviously doesn't want anybody to know yet," Stern wrote in an e-mail. "If she's not pregnant, she's not denying the rumor because she thinks it's funny how much of a stir it's causing. She'll leave it up to you to guess which one it is."

Smith, 38, has a 20-year-old son, Daniel, from her first marriage. This week, Smith won a judgment in the Supreme Court that allows her to continue to seek part of the fortune of her late husband, Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II. Smith married Marshall in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died in 1995.

CBS introduces its broadband 'innertube' channel

CBS is taking a big leap into the broadband pool, launching a channel that will offer up original programming alongside repeats of shows from the broadcast network.

The channel, called "innertube," launched Thursday on CBS.com. The channel's programming will be free to users and supported by advertisers just like conventional TV. One offering, a fraternity-makeover show called Greek to Chic, is sponsored partly by Chili's and Dr Pepper; the premiere features one of the frat boys taking his date to Chili's while wearing a Dr Pepper T-shirt.

Other innertube shows will include Beyond Survivor, a behind-the-scenes peek at CBS's reality flagship, and BBQ Bill, a sketch-comedy show featuring Mad TV alum Rick Najera.

Lip inflammation shuts down Wynton Marsalis' jazz tour

Wynton Marsalis has an inflammation of the lip that has forced him to take a break from playing trumpet, Jazz at Lincoln Center confirmed Friday.

"It happens to the people who play as intensely as Wynton does, and we just have to deal with it," said Lisa Schiff, the chairwoman of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Marsalis played April 28 at Ruth Eckerd Hall

Mary Fiance Fuss, a spokeswoman for Jazz at Lincoln Center, said Marsalis' next public performance will be June 5 at the Apollo Theater. But she said he had pulled out of a tour in June with the New Orleans musicians Dr. John and the Neville Brothers, which includes stops in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Illinois and Indiana.
