Man: Stupidity made me break windows

By TIMES STAFF WRITER

TARPON SPRINGS - A New Port Richey man told Tarpon Springs police he had been "bored and stupid" when he used a "wrist-rocket" slingshot to take out a seemingly random array of windows around the city between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Reese David Bell II, 19, caused more than $4,600 in damage, shattering panes at the Latour Law Firm on E Lemon Street, a sports utility vehicle on W Athens Street and the Pour House on Pinellas Avenue, police said. Bell was arrested and charged with one felony and six misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief Friday and taken to the Pinellas County Jail. For police, it was at least the second time this week that someone said stupidity had gotten them into trouble. Police said Anthony G. Gale, 25, of Tarpon Springs was arrested on a charge of attempted shoplifting after placing a deck of playing cards in his jeans and trying to leave Publix without paying. Gale said he wanted to play gin rummy but couldn't pay $3.29 for the cards because he's unemployed, police said. "I was stupid," he told an officer.
