Keep eye on future, young leaders told

Published May 8, 2006

Emerge Tampa, a leadership program for young professionals sponsored by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, is celebrating its second anniversary this week.

The group, which targets emerging leaders ages 21 to 35 in the community, will gather at Tampa's Channelside Courtyard from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. In keeping with the group's aim of retaining young talent in the area, the theme of the celebration is "Envision Your Future ... Here.''

Attendees will be invited to submit their ideas for the future of the Tampa Bay area, with one idea selected to be taken on by the group. Also presenting their visions of the future will be Mayor Pam Iorio and Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan.

Playing off the vision theme, participants are being asked to bring used prescription glasses and sunglasses for donation. Admission is free.
