Scholarships, grants to be awarded Wednesday

CLEARWATER - The Clearwater Junior Women's Club will present the Mary and Joseph Clark Memorial Scholarships and Helping Hands Community Grants at its annual Community Awards Celebration dinner starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Dimmitt Atrium Lounge at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen-Booth Road. Tickets are $45; award recipient dinners may be sponsored for $30. Call Tracey Birch at 641-8806.

Pitch in and help rid park of invasive, exotic plants PALM HARBOR - Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 13 to participate in the "Give Us a Day for the Bay" workday to help rid John Chesnut Sr. Park of invasive plants. The park is at 2200 East Lake Road. Volunteers will receive lunch and a T-shirt, and are asked to bring garden gloves, shovels and trowels, and wear closed-toe shoes. Preregistration is required.
