CRYSTAL RIVER - Police have arrested one man and are seeking another in connection with an April 3 beating and robbery at a Crystal River carwash.

Shane Little, 23, of Dunnellon was booked into the Citrus County jail with bail set at $2,000. The other suspect, David Lingo, 30, remained at large.

The robbery happened about 9:45 a.m. April 3 at a carwash at 1123 NE Fifth St. (State Road 44), according to a police news release. John Kuta was washing his vehicle when two men assaulted him and demanded money.

Kuda broke free and and fled toward SR 44, where he flagged down passing motorists. The robbers fled in a white Chevrolet Corsica, the release said.

Officers remembered conducting a field interview with two men in a similar vehicle two days earlier, according to the release. Crystal River Det. Sgt. Corey Sharpe found the men, who said they were at work when the incident occurred.

"The victim later identified pictures of their vehicle and confirmed it had been at the scene; however, he could not identify the suspects," the release said. "Sharpe later determined the suspects had lied about their whereabouts during the time of the robbery."

Officers arrested Little at 9 a.m. Sunday. He made incriminating statements about his involvement in the robbery, the release said. Police said they think Lingo has left the state.
