Donate old cell phones to senior victim program

Got an old cell phone you want to get rid of? The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc. and its Senior Victim Advocate Program are collecting no longer used cell phones for their 9-1-1 Senior Safety Phone Project.

The phones are collected and then distributed as 9-1-1 emergency only or "Safety Phones." Largo has a new location at 13225 101 St. SE. Call 584-8171. For other collection and distribution site information, call (727) 570-9696, ext. 279.

Alumni Singers will put on show on May 21

The Alumni Singers of St. Petersburg's annual Spring Concert will be at 4 p.m. May 21 at Faith Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 18th Ave. S. The Alumni Singers are dedicated to preserving the African-American experience through choral music. Call 323-7004.

Commission accepting beautiful nominations

The City Beautiful Commission is accepting nominations for the 40th annual City Beautiful Awards. The Commission recognizes outstanding achievement by commercial property owners in landscaping, building design and maintenance.

Properties must be within St. Petersburg city limits and landscaping must be in place for one full year. Deadline for nominations is July 1. Summer camp for girls ages 5 to 17 announced

The Girls Incorporated of Pinellas will hold its 11-week Summer Day Camp in Pinellas Park May 22-Aug. 4. For girls ages 5 to 17, the camp offers activities including arts and crafts, two computer labs, dance, ceramics, a media lab, field trips and swimming. Softball competition will benefit homeless project

Two-day softball competition with men's and co-ed teams competing for the top three positions in each division, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. May 20-21, Woodlawn Recreation complex, 1450 16th St. N, St. Petersburg.

Children's tent with entertainment and activities while parents compete. Refreshments available. Proceeds benefit the Boley Center's Transitional Homeless Project. Registration is $200 per team. Dog wash will raise funds to stop overpopulation

Stop Pet Overpopulation Together will host a Dog Wash from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 20 at Dog Gone Positive, 7620 66th St. N, Pinellas Park, to raise money for a spay and neuter clinic for cats and dogs. Fish-a-thon available for 17-year-olds and under

Give your fingers a rest from those video games. Grab your fishing pole and come on out to the city of St. Pete Beach's "Annual Children's Fish-A-Thon" Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Merry Pier, 801 Pass-a-Grille Way. All 17-year-olds and under are welcome. Ten-year-olds and younger must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must register by tomorrow. Bait and refreshments will be available. Cost is $2.
