Art

Join an artist on her journey

By LENNIE BENNETT
Published May 11, 2006

Carol Dameron paints with a beautiful, Old World richness, using oil on wood, that recalls earlier centuries and masters. Her subject in a new series of works also harkens back to the allegorical tradition, creating a mythology about a woman's journey. But its narrative is thoroughly contemporary, asking the viewer to interpret its symbolism in personal ways. See the collection, including the painting shown above, at Studio@620 620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg, beginning Friday through June 10. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. An opening reception Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. is free to the public.
