Bucs add defensive end

By JOANNE KORTH, Times Staff Writer
Published May 13, 2006

The Bucs signed former South Carolina defensive end Moe Thompson, an undrafted free agent who participated in the team's three-day rookie minicamp May 5-7. Terms were not disclosed.

Thompson, 6-feet-4, 280 pounds, was out of football last season after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree burglary and two counts of petit larceny for his role in the theft from dorm rooms in February 2005. He transferred to Grambling but was academically ineligible.

At South Carolina, Thompson earned All-Freshman Southeastern Conference honors after starting 11 games in 2002 with 54 tackles, two sacks, one interception, three passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. He had 12 sacks over the next two seasons, including a team-high seven in 2004.
