Moms visit Brown-Waite in peaceBROOKSVILLE - Local mothers, as part of a national movement, visited the office of U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite on Friday bearing a variety of "peace pies" and requesting support of pending legislation that would create a Department of Peace. The mothers, representatives from the Peace Alliance, were welcomed by Brown-Waite's staff. The federal budget is often depicted as a pie chart showing how American tax dollars are spent. The peace portion of the budget would eat up only the equivalent of 2 percent of the "pie." For information, call Rebecca Pujals-Jones at 341-3397. Local mothers will honor our troops, call for the government to stop the war in Iraq and bring troops home during a demonstration from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Historic Courthouse, at Main Street and N Apopka Avenue in downtown Inverness. For information, call Beverley Wiskow at 400-4174.
