Arthritis Walk fundraiser set at Fort De Soto Park

The Arthritis Foundation needs individuals to participate in the Arthritis Walk on Saturday at Fort De Soto Park. Activities begin at 4 p.m. The event will feature a 3-mile and 1-mile walking course, a 5K "Fun Run," and activities for the entire family.

Pet owners are invited to bring their leashed dogs to walk with them in the ARFF-ritis Walk. There'll be fun, food and music. Registered walkers with arthritis will be given a Blue Hero's hat. Workshop shows how to use 'toolbox' for recovery

A workshop dealing with addiction, depression, bipolar disorder and co-dependency will be held June 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 4301 16th St. N. Fundraising cookout will benefit Boy Scouts' camp

Juvenile Welfare Board grant provides mentoring

The Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County awarded a grant to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County in collaboration with the St. Petersburg Recreation Department that will bring mentoring to after-school programs at Campbell Park, Gladden Park, Rio Vista and the Walter Fuller Center. It only takes one hour a week and a willingness to offer encouragement and friendship to become a Big Brother or Big Sister in the after-school program. Call 518-8860 or visit www.bbbspc.org.

SPCA offers adoptions, other pet services

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay encourages residents to kick off their spring with a four-legged friend. The adoption fee for dogs, cats and kittens is $35, puppies $50 and rabbits $15. Each adoption includes vaccinations, spaying or neutering, county license tag, microchip for identification and free obedience classes for canines. Also, there's 10 percent off pet supplies at the SPCA Store. The shelter is at 9099 130th Ave. N, Largo. U.S. Naval Sea Cadets offers youth programs

If you're a student between the ages of 11 and 17 and interested in learning about naval traditions through participation in a variety of activities on and off the water, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, a nonprofit youth organization, offers valuable life and work skills like teamwork, leadership and citizenship. There are two programs. The Navy League Cadet is for ages 11-13, and the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets is for ages 13-17. All cadets must be U.S. citizens, in good moral standing, have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, be active in the community, and enrolled in middle or high school and without dependents. Kids can help greyhounds through coloring contest

A coloring contest to benefit greyhound adoptions will be through June 3. A copy of And Then There Were Greyhounds coloring book will be available from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays at PetsMart at Largo Mall, 10500 Ulmerton Road. $10. Register now for Boca Ciega golf tournament

GULFPORT - Registration is open for the 12th annual Boca Ciega High School Pirate golf tournament scheduled for noon June 3 at Belleview Biltmore course in Belleair. The $85 entry fee covers cart, box lunch, door prizes and a chance to win an Acura donated by Crown Dealerships. Proceeds go to support teachers and classroom enhancements at Boca Ciega.

Group seeks used cribs to give to needy moms

Kids all grown up and don't know what to do with that crib? Donate it to the People That Love Church and Mission at 817 Fifth Ave. N.
