BARRON COLLIER (28-3) VS. HILLSBOROUGH (29-4), 8 p.m.
OUTLOOK: Fourth-ranked Hillsborough will start Matt Schurig (15-0) against Naples Barron Collier, ranked No. 26 in the Baseball America national poll and No. 1 in the state. This is Hillsborough's first final four appearance since 1980; the Terriers last won a state championship in 1967. Schurig had a shaky fourth inning in an 11-5 region final victory over Northeast - he gave up a three-run home run and four runs in the inning - but recovered to shut down Northeast the rest of they way. When he's on, the Terriers, with their potent offense, have been unbeatable. Barron Collier last made state in 1997 when the Cougars defeated Dunedin 13-0 in five innings. Coach Ted Parsons was an assistant on that championship team. Parsons took over the following season and is in his ninth year. Barron Collier's losses came to local rival Gulf Coast (twice) and Sarasota. The Cougars, an aggressive team on the base paths, are led by pitchers Brett Eckler (9-0) and Ian Parry (9-3). CLASS 4A
