Woman accused of attacking pregnant teen

NEW PORT RICHEY - A drunken woman yanked her son's pregnant girlfriend to the ground by her hair Tuesday and then kicked her several times in the abdomen, police said.

The dispute broke out about noon on Massachusetts Avenue, when Sandra Sharp, 39, went to the house where the victim was staying in an attempt to repossess her Ford Explorer, said Master Patrol Officer Keith Campbell of the New Port Richey Police Department.

"The defendant was intoxicated at the time," Campbell said. "You could smell it."

Sharp is said to have known her son's 19-year-old girlfriend was pregnant when she attacked. The victim, who had a reddish scrape mark on her abdomen, told police she was going to a hospital.

Sharp faces a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. She was in the Land O'Lakes jail on Wednesday, held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
