NUMBER OF STUDENTS WALKING IN CEREMONY: 340 SIZE OF CLASS WHEN IT STARTED HIGH SCHOOL: 608 VALEDICTORIAN: Navin Singh, Center for Advanced Technologies. Lindsay Weber, regular school. SALUTATORIAN: Bari Becker, regular school. Theresa Standfast, Center for Advanced technologies. SPEAKERS: Principal Dennis Duda; Jarred Carter, senior class vice president and principal's choice to speak; Christopher Estoch, National Honors Society president; Melanie Rogers, student government president; Jaclyn Stroh, senior class president; Bari Becker; Lindsay Weber; Navin Singh; Theresa Standfast BEST QUOTE: "People always say we are the future of America. What we do now will determine what we are later." - Rogers CLASS ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Several students received scholarships to military academies, the class has a "large percentage" of Bright Futures Scholarship candidates. Students have been accepted at Purdue, Duke, Emory, and the University of Chicago. HOW MANY ARE GOING INTO MILITARY: About 5 percent HOW MANY ARE GOING TO COLLEGE: About 75 percent of the class will go to a four-year college. Another 10 percent will go to a two-year college. BEHIND THE SCENES: Dozens had to stand because the bleachers at the football stadium filled up. Jacquie Small, 58, who came to watch her niece, Erica Simpson, receive a diploma, said the crowd was "very encouraging." A KODAK MOMENT: Student government president Rogers called for a moment of silence.
