Treasure Island party: music, motors and sun

Spend Memorial Day weekend at Treasure Island's free three-day music and family beach party, "Island Sun, Sand and Symphony." The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday with a classic rock show by Charlie Souza and the New Tropics, 104th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard. Saturday's activities shift into gear at 11 a.m. with bluegrass, country rock and '70s retro jams, a classic car show and kite-flying exhibition. Arts and crafts vendors and rides for the kids continue throughout the day and evening. The Tampa Bay Symphony performs its yearly concert at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks close out the night at 10 p.m. Sunday opens at 11 a.m. with Buffett Meets Sinatra then at 3 p.m. the pop musical rhythms of Billy Agan, plus more fun at the beach.
