Educate yourself on theft of identity

Deputy Victor Pavone of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit will discuss how to protect yourself against identify theft at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Seminole Community Library.

SEMINOLE - Deputy Victor Pavone of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit will discuss how to protect yourself against identify theft at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Seminole Community Library.

The free event is hosted by USEM-Community Association, which was founded to provide information, education and services to the community. For information, call 595-6834.

Other events at the Seminole Community Library include:

-- Family movies at 2 p.m. Saturdays. Free popcorn and sodas provided. The movie schedule includes Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events on Saturday; Antz on June 3; Sky High on June 10; The Rescuers Down Under on June 17; and The Love Bug on June 24.

-- Classic movie matinee are at 2 p.m. Thursdays. Free popcorn and sodas provided. The movie schedule includes Maverick on Thursday; The Thrill Of It All on June 2; Island In the Sky on June 9; Fail-Safe on June 16; The Glass Bottom Boat on June 23; and The Quiet Man on June 30.

-- Teen programs are at 2 p.m. Thursdays. The schedule is forensics/crime scene investigation on June 8; Name the Tune game show on June 15; Chinese brush painting I on June 22; Chinese brush painting II on June 29; Anime, Movie & Snacks on July 6; and Cookie Decorating Party on July 13.

The first Junior Marathon Club will be hosted by the Seminole Recreation Division this summer. Kids 5-15 can participate by meeting at the Seminole Recreation Center athletic fields beginning at 8 a.m. today. Participants can complete their first marathon by running up to 1 mile every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the Junior Marathon Club. Every kid that completes the 26.1-mile challenge during the summer will receive an official certificate of completion, a Junior Marathon Club T-shirt and finisher's medal. Information: 391-8345.

Pinellas Trails Inc. will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. today in Room A at the New Largo Library, 120 Central Park Drive in Largo.

Meetings are open to Pinellas County residents interested in serving on the Pinellas Trail Board, one of its committees or helping at any of its events. Committees include events, amenities, communications/marketing/public relations and neighborhood pride in trail. This is the last meeting until September.

Free Business Leads & Skills Development Workshops, sponsored by the Seminole Chamber of Commerce, are at 7:30 a.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the TLC Building, Room 108, on the St. Petersburg College Seminole campus.

Upcoming topics include "Keep Yourself Positive Amidst Negativity" today and "Find the Right Prospects" on June 14.

Seminole United Methodist Church sponsors a supper from 6 to 6:45 p.m. every Wednesday.

Activities that follow the supper include a KidZone and a Level 54 for youth and a variety of classes and small groups for adults with a Spanish language class, prayer group, parenting skills and more. The Rev. Doug Hallman will lead Bible study. $5 a plate; free for youths. The church is at 5400 Seminole Blvd. Information: 391-9781.
