RUSKIN - A woman killed crossing U.S. 41 on foot Tuesday night has been identified, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.

Glenda D. Neal, a 48-year-old homeless woman, died at Tampa General Hospital after she was struck by an SUV, the FHP said.

Troopers say Neal was crossing the highway's southbound lanes near 11th Avenue NW in Ruskin at 9:28 p.m. when she was hit by a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Jose Pizano, 26, of 3616 Compson Circle, Ruskin.

Pizano was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license with fatal injury, reported the FHP. He was taken to the Hillsborough County jail, where bail was set at $9,500.
