TAMPA - A University of South Florida chemistry professor is under investigation for a possible copyright violation, accused of posting questions from a national exam on a USF Web site. USF spokeswoman Jacqui Cash said the professor's name is not being released because the matter is under investigation. Cash said officials from the American Chemical Society's Exams Institute wrote USF this month alleging in the fall the professor posted online questions from a 2003 exam created by the institute. After determining that the professor did place the questions online, the university and the Institute agreed to a public acknowledgement of the inappropriately posted material, Cash said. Veteran judge to retire in June after being on bench 21 yearsCLEARWATER - Veteran Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge James R. Case has announced he will retire this summer. Case was first elected circuit judge in 1984. His retirement will be effective June 30. In his 21 years on the bench, Case has served in the criminal, family law and civil divisions. He served as the circuit's chief judge from 1991 to 1993. Renaldo Clint Worthy of 1610 98th Ave. faces multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a felon. Worthy was taken to the Hillsborough County jail. He was not injured, police say. Bail was set at $21,750. Toddler hospitalized after fall from second-story windowTAMPA - A toddler was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after falling 10 feet from a second-story window, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Brian Luther, 20 months old, fell through a screen at his family's home at 1510 E 127th Ave., Apt. A, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter. Brian and a 5-year-old child were upstairs watching television in the family's apartment about 12:30 p.m., and his mother and her boyfriend were downstairs, Carter said. The adults heard a noise, and they looked out to see the child sitting on the patio, Carter said. Investigators think the toddler leaned against a screen and pushed it out, she said. Brian was taken to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. His family asked that no information on his condition be released.
