SoHo Publix should not be a traffic issue

By Letter to the Editor

I think your article's tone is negative and whiney. Apparently you don't know what bad traffic is. Go to a town like Miami and then tell us about bad traffic. Wild Oats is always packed. I travel there from Davis Island. It's a great value compared with ripoff Nature's Harvest. The selection is overwhelming.

Nothing would get done or built here if decisions were made on your logic. Your type of logic would prevent the building of the Publix in SoHo.

That store is badly needed since the one on Bayshore carries only limited supplies. Apparently Publix originally wanted to build a two-story store with parking on top at that site but was blocked by the City Council because of traffic concerns.

Now we have an inadequate store and bad parking. Fort Lauderdale and South Beach have similar, spectacular two-story Publix stores with parking on top. These stores are great and don't add to traffic.

I can see your suggestions to improve upon the traffic light situation at Walter's Crossing, but I really don't agree that no one is going there because of a drastic traffic situation. The store is great, and we need more like it.
