Prospect of the day

LOGAN JOHNSON, 2B, JR., LOUISVILLE
STATISTICS:
Louisville's offensive onslaught - four straight games with at least 15 hits - has been the story of this week's Big East tournament, and the 5-foot-9, 175-pound Johnson is the Cardinals' best hitter. He leads the team with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs and is second with a .323 batting average. He also has the team high with 18 doubles and curiously has been hit by pitches 25 times, three more than his closest teammate.
CLOSER LOOK:
Louisville somehow didn't land a player on the all-conference first team, and Johnson was the only Cardinal to make the second team. He's listed as a utility player on the school's official site, having played first base, left and rightfield and designated hitter.
PERSONAL:
Owensboro, Ky., is the birthplace of actor Johnny Depp and NASCAR's Darrell and Michael Waltrip and Jeremy Mayfield. His media guide bio lists him as the 1987 Owensboro "3-and-under Big Wheel champion," and he lists Penske Motorsports among his favorite teams.
