Logo shows it's more than circuits

For now at least, "circuit" is still part of the name at Jabil Circuit Inc., but the word and the design have been banished from the St. Petersburg company's logo.

"We are no longer just a circuit board company," spokesman Ken Darby said. Jabil started out making printed circuit board assemblies. But these days the company makes a wide variety of electronic products and can handle everything from design and assembly to post-sales support.

So of course it needed to update its old logo, which included a circuit board design. The new image was designed in house by Michael Dolce, visual communications manager.

Of course it's the performance, not the logo, that makes Jabil a hit with investors. Friday Forbes magazine recognized the company as a "global high performer," calling it one of the world's five best tech hardware companies. Jabil is the most valuable Tampa Bay company in terms of market value.

Darby said there are no plans to change Jabil's name to match its logo.
