Focus on volunteers

Community PreSchool, 1665 25th Ave. N, St. Petersburg, a nonprofit child care center started in 1942, is searching for classroom aides, building maintenance workers and board members. For information, call Mary Gray, (727) 895-2512.

Bayfront Medical Center, 701 Sixth St. S, St. Petersburg, needs volunteers for its gift gallery. Helpers receive a meal ticket and free parking. For information, call Teresa Bevins, (727) 893-6054.

Sacred Lands Preservation and Education Inc., a nonprofit organization set up to help preserve archaeologically significant land, 1620 Park St. N, St. Petersburg, is calling for environmentally and culturally conscious volunteers to assist with event preparation and implementation. Gulf Coast Community Care's Adopt-A-Grandchild Program, 14041 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, is looking for adults to mentor children ages 3-16 in Pinellas County. The program seeks to match mentors with children in need of adult attention. Mentors plan activities including going to the park, arts and crafts, baking, fishing, sewing, and lending a sympathetic ear. Call (727) 538-7460.
