SCHEDULE: No. 2-seeded Florida State vs. No. 3 Jacksonville, 3 p.m.; No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 4 Sacred Heart, 7 p.m. Double-elimination play continues with two games on Saturday and Sunday. If necessary, a finale will be Monday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the super region next week.
FSU NOTES: The Seminoles went 3-2 in the ACC tournament to gain some needed confidence. ... Expect junior right-hander Michael Hyde, coming off a strong performance (seven shutout innings against Virginia in an ACC elimination game) May 26 to start today. He's also 2-0 against Jacksonville this year, allowing two earned runs and striking out 10 in 122/3 innings. ... The Seminoles are 4-0 against the Dolphins this season and have won 17 straight in the intrastate series. ... FSU likely will go with junior right-hander Tyler Chambliss (11-1, 2.87 ERA) in Game 2. ... Georgia, the No. 7 national seed, has won four of the past five against FSU, including two of three in the 2001 super region in Athens.
