Tour openings are at Kids Firehouse Museum

The Kids Firehouse Museum, 9510 Kids Firehouse Ave., Largo, has openings for tours.

The Firehouse has 11 antique firetrucks and a playground facility.

Children learn fire safety, watch a safety video and receive free safety information.

Reservations required. Admission is free; donations are encouraged. For information, call 585-1300.

Juvenile board's library has helpful media to loan

Parents sometimes need help defusing temper tantrums, managing discipline issues or talking with their kids about tough topics.

The Juvenile Welfare board has a lending library of videos, DVDs and books to help. The library, at 6698 68th Ave. N, Pinellas Park, has more than 1,200 videos and DVDs related to family matters.

Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and the items are available free to all Pinellas County residents. To review the library's catalog online, go to www.jwbpinellas.org. For information, call 547-5670.

Scholarship fund set up to honor school librarian

ST. PETERSBURG - A memorial scholarship fund has been established at the Canterbury School of Florida in the name of Martha Pierce Little, the school's librarian and media specialist, who died May 3. Mrs. Little was a 28-year veteran teacher and librarian at the school.

Workshop shows how to use 'toolbox' for recovery

A workshop dealing with addiction, depression, bipolar disorder and codependency will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 at Grace Lutheran Church, 4301 16th St. N.

Topics will include how to use our inner "toolbox" for recovery, revaluing our self-worth and how to rid ourselves of distorted thinking.
