The Web site asks, "Are you storming mad?'' with the "s" shaped like a hurricane symbol. There's an illustration of a hand squeezing cash out of the Florida peninsula as storm winds blast by.
Hurricanes, money ... guess what this is about.
Stormingmad.com is among the latest Internet sites to spring up as a reaction to Florida's growing homeowners insurance crisis. A creation of the Florida Democratic Party, which makes no secret of its involvement, the site blasts recently passed legislation that Democrats think didn't go far enough to address the problem of available and affordable insurance.
Visitors are encouraged to host neighborhood meetings, write lawmakers and contact newspapers and radio stations. As of late last week, stormingmad.com had nearly 5,000 visitors.
"There's a lot of frustration out there,'' said Tara Klimek, communications director for the House Democratic Office. "What we have right now is clearly broken.''
Republican Party of Florida communications director Jeff Sadosky recommended residents visit 100ideas.org, his party's Web site.
"The Democrats are proposing to socialize homeowners insurance in Florida,'' Sadosky said of the opposition's site, "and socializing anything is never the answer.''
