Walsingham Road bank is robbed

By TIMES STAFF WRITER
Published June 7, 2006

LARGO - Police were searching for a man who they said walked into a BB&T bank on Tuesday, handed a teller a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbery occurred at 2 p.m. at the branch at 14141 Walsingham Road. The man passed the note and pounded his fist on the counter as the teller retrieved some money, police said. He was described as a white man, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, weighing about 170 pounds with a thin build. He was tan, with light color hair that might have been a wig, and wore a safari-type hat. A yellow Mini Cooper was seen circling the bank shortly before the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Keith Barton at 587-6728.
