The sounds of soca, calypso, raggae and steel drums will punctuate the Tampa Bay Caribbean Carnival on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront Saturday and Sunday.

Above, Lankaya Charley of St. Petersburg cooled off in a mist machine at the 2005 carnival.

Besides the music, the festival will feature arts and crafts, food and kids' activities. A costume parade is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday in Vinoy Park, Fifth Avenue NE at Bayshore Drive. $10 for adults, $15 for two-day ticket; free for ages 12 and younger. No pets, coolers, grills, glass containers or video cameras. (727) 327-1277, www.tampacarnival.com.
