Americans will spend about $300 this year upgrading their outdoor entertaining spaces, according to a survey conducted for Sears. Other survey findings:

* New patio furniture - 35 percent

* Decorative lighting - 28 percent

* Gazebo/screen rooms - 23 percent

* Outdoor stereo - 25 percent

* Firepit - 23 percent

* Spa/hot tub - 19 percent

* Fountain/water sculpture - 19 percent

* Swimming pool - 16 percent

You're invited

* We'll entertain outdoors 5.4 times this year.

* Two of three Americans use disposable dishes when they entertain.

Worst things about outdoor entertaining

* Bugs - 35 percent

* Uncomfortable weather - 24 percent
