Cause of chimp's death still unknown

It will be about two weeks until a cause of death is known for Herman, the venerable Lowry Park Zoo chimpanzee who died Thursday after a brawl with his longtime pal, Bamboo. Rachel Nelson, a zoo spokeswoman, said tissue samples collected during a necropsy were sent to pathologists Monday. The results will help David Murphy, the zoo's veterinarian, determine what actually killed the 42-year-old chimp.

Honey and buddies cause stir at airport

The carry-on contained video and audio recording equipment and "organic material." Very suspicious, thought officials viewing it via X-ray scanning equipment at Tallahassee's airport, which closed for three hours Monday until the matter was sorted out. The luggage belonged to Todd Coleman, food editor for Saveur magazine. He was detained but released after a robot opened his bag and found Tupelo honey, seasoning rub and an oyster shell - the organic material. He is doing a story on nearby Apalachicola, Florida's oyster capital, also famous for tupelo honey.

Suit says sex device infringes patent

We'll spare you the details, but two Pinellas County beach dwellers are suing the owners of a Clearwater sex shop for patent infringement. Steven Ritchie of Treasure Island and David Reynard of Madeira Beach filed a lawsuit in Tampa federal court Monday accusing the owners of the XTC Supercenter of selling a sexual device just like the one they invented.

Correction

The Yankee Traveler RV Park, 8500 Ulmerton Road, has not been sold. A graphic Saturday stated otherwise because of incorrect information supplied to the St. Petersburg Times.
